Common Air Suspension Issues
Pressure Issues
Are you struggling to build up pressure in your airbags? There are a wide variety of factors that can contribute to this problem, but the most common are definitely damaged air lines or a malfunctioning compressor. First and foremost, airline damage is typically a result of your air dryer failing to remove enough moisture from your compressed air system. This moisture may freeze in colder weather and cause your airline to break. Damaged airlines mean your airbags won’t receive enough air, hence the pressure issue. As for a malfunctioning compressor, faulty unloader valves are usually to blame. Your unloader valve is responsible for removing leftover air from your compressor in an effort to make it easier for your compressor to start and run. If the unloader valve seizes, your compressor will have a much harder time running, hence the pressure issue.
Height Sensor Issues
When loading cargo onto your truck, your height sensors will automatically detect the amount your airbags compress. These sensors allow your truck’s computer to facilitate the flow of more compressed air to compensate for the new weight. However, if your height sensors fail, you may not get an adequate flow of compressed air, and in some cases, you may even get too much! If you believe your height sensors are malfunctioning, give Mac's Diesel & Trailer Repair a call today!
Other Common Suspension Issues
Shock Absorber Issues
Your shock absorbers are designed to absorb road impacts and vibrations in order to smoothen out your ride and protect your core components from the shock of an impact. Over time, shocks are known to leak from their upper and lower seals. If this happens, your shocks will fail to adequately smoothen out your ride. This puts your cargo at risk, intensifies the wear and tear on your truck, and makes driving your truck very uncomfortable for you.
